Journey to the Biblical Holy Places at the Foot of Sinai
In the heart of the desert, where Moses heard the voice of God, stands the most ancient Christian monastery, keeping the secrets of two millennia...
The sacred journey begins
A path through biblical landscapes
Your morning will begin with a picturesque road through the Sinai Mountains, where every stone remembers the steps of the prophets. As you approach the monastery, the landscapes become more majestic - fiery red rocks, sun-baked valleys and sudden oases of green.
Gateway to the 4th century
The monastery, founded in 527 by Emperor Justinian, greets you with impregnable walls, behind which are hidden:
Chapel of the Burning Bush (that same burning but not consumed thorn bush)
Miraculous icon of the Mother of God of the 6th century
One of the richest collections of ancient manuscripts (second only to the Vatican)
Shrines you will see
Burning bush
The very bush from which God spoke to Moses. Amazingly, its roots are still alive after 3,500 years!
